Itinerary

DAY 1:Day 1: Cusco – Salineras – Pispitayoc (Biking and Rafting)

We will pick you up at your hotel around 6am and take you through the breathtaking Sacred Valley of the Incas. Take in the stunning views of the Vilcabamba and Vilcanota mountain ranges and the charming villages that dot the landscape.
After a two-hour drive, we stop at the ancient Inca city of Ollantaytambo, where breakfast is included and you can stretch your legs and use the facilities. From there we continue to the Abra Malaga Pass, which is located at an altitude of 4350 metres. On arrival at the Abra Malaga you will be given all the necessary cycling equipment and take part in a training session to ensure a successful and enjoyable ride to Santa Maria. The ride begins high in the Andes, with majestic views of the snow-capped Veronica Peak. Our route takes us from the Abra Malaga Pass to the fascinating Inca site of Huamanmarca, where we stop for lunch and explore the small but remarkable ruins. After visiting Huamanmarca, we return to the car and continue to Santa Maria, where an exciting white river rafting adventure awaits in the afternoon. Along the way you will have the opportunity to appreciate the breathtaking scenery that surrounds us.

Upon arrival in Santa Maria, you will check into your accommodations, shower and relax before dinner. In the evening we will go to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious dinner and share anecdotes from an action packed day.

DAY 2:Pispitayoc – Hotsprings – Santa Teresa

Start your extraordinary day with a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant at 6:00 am. Today’s trip is one of the most memorable parts of the entire adventure. We will begin with a 45-minute drive along the route before entering the original Inca trail that connected Machu Picchu to Vilcabamba, the last Inca capital.

As we traverse this ancient road, we will marvel at the impressive banana, coca, yucca, and coffee plantations that line it. During our three-hour hike along the original Inca trail, we will enjoy magnificent views of the Vilcanota Valley and hills covered with diverse jungle plantations.

We will stop in the charming village of Quellomayo for lunch at one of its restaurants. Here you can relax, recharge your batteries and explore the surroundings before continuing our hike along the Vilcanota River. The 3.5-hour hike will take us to the rejuvenating hot springs of Colcamayo, a natural outdoor oasis perfect for soothing tired muscles. Enjoy a couple of hours in the hot springs before continuing our journey to Santa Teresa.

A 45-minute hike will take us to our final destination of the day: Santa Teresa. We will spend the night in a cozy lodge and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, where we can share anecdotes and reflect on the day’s unforgettable experiences.

DAY 3:Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes

Wake up at 6:30, have breakfast and get ready for an action packed day. At 8:00 a.m. the zip line company will pick you up and take you to the base. After a brief orientation, you will begin an exciting two-hour adventure where you will travel on four different zip lines and cross a suspension bridge.

You will then travel one hour by car to Hidroeléctrica for a well-deserved lunch. After lunch, you will take a scenic three-hour hike along the railroad tracks to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and relax.

At 7:00 p.m. enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel to rest. Wake up early the next morning eager to explore the magnificent Machu Picchu.

DAY 2:Explore Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco

MACHU PICCHU DAY:

How to get to the main gate of Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes: There are two ways to get to the main gate of Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes. You can take a scenic 1.5-hour hike or a comfortable bus ride that costs $12. The choice is yours, and you can even decide on the same day you plan to visit Machu Picchu. Whichever option you choose, your day will start early, at 4am, with a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Aguas Calientes.
If you choose to walk from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, your trip will begin around 4:30 a.m. You will walk from your hotel to Puente Ruinas, which will take approximately 30 minutes. Puente Ruinas is the first checkpoint where you will need to show your Machu Picchu tickets and original passports to enter. Once you have passed through the Puente Ruinas checkpoint, you will begin the hike up to Machu Picchu with an ascent of approximately 1700 steps. This climb usually takes between an hour and an hour and twenty minutes. Upon arrival at the main gate of Machu Picchu, you will meet your group and guide to enter the site and begin your unforgettable exploration of this ancient Inca citadel. If you decide to take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, you will need to buy the ticket in town, either the night before or the same morning. The one-way ticket costs $12. Once you have your ticket, get in line to board the first buses that leave Aguas Calientes at 5:30 a.m. The bus ride to Machu Picchu takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival, you will meet your group and guide around 6am to enter the site and begin exploring this ancient Inca city of great significance.

GUIDED VISIT TO MACHU PICCHU:

Our program includes the Machu Picchu ticket, being the primary circuit options circuits 01 or 02. If there is no availability for the first option, we will include circuits 03 or 04. Ticket availability depends on the time of booking, so if you prefer the primary circuit options, we recommend you book well in advance. For more information on the different circuits and ticket details, please visit our website or contact us directly. Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, our experienced tour guide will lead you on a 2.5 hour guided exploration of the Inca city, following the circuit indicated on your ticket. The guide will explain the history and significance of Machu Picchu and allow you time to take pictures and enjoy the breathtaking views. During the tour you will visit the most emblematic places.
At the end of the tour you will have free time to explore and relax on your own. If you have booked a Huayna Picchu hike (which you should book in advance as it is a very popular option that sells out quickly and costs $60 per person), your guide will take you to the starting point. The hike takes no more than two hours, with a return trip.

Alternatively, instead of climbing Huayna Picchu, you can choose to hike Machu Picchu Mountain. This hike is more challenging and the return trip takes a minimum of three hours (at an additional cost of $60 per person).
For those considering climbing both mountains, we recommend taking the train back to Cusco to allow more time to explore the mountains. If you prefer to return by car, we suggest spending an extra night in Aguas Calientes and leaving the hydroelectric station by car on the sixth day. This will allow you to fully enjoy the beauty of the mountains and make the most of your trip.
