Description

This is Cusco’s most famous mountain biking tour, very popular with all the local cross country bikers, as it offers a mix of stunning white mountain scenery, Andean villages, Inca ruins, salt mines and a moderate mountain biking adventure. It lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours (36 km).
At 08:50 h, I pick you up at your hotel and then we make a one hour trip by private van in a northeast direction from Cusco to “Chancadora”, located before the town of Chincheros. From this point we start our mountain biking adventure. We will warm up for an hour on a flat and dirt road with spectacular views of potato crops, barley, impressive Andean landscapes, snow-capped peaks, small lakes and friendly local people. You will have another perspective of the views of the sacred valley. Then, we will arrive at Cruzpata. From here, we continue one hour of gradual riding to the village of Maras. Another hour of moderate climb and dirt flat road, and cross-country biking to the ruins of Moray. Time to visit this impressive Inca experimental agricultural terraces, used mainly as an agricultural laboratory in Inca times. Then we return downhill for 50 minutes to the town of Maras. Finally, we descend for 20 minutes to the Salineras (salt mines). After visiting and taking pictures, we descend for 30 minutes to Pichingoto. We cross a small bridge and end our tour in Urubamba, where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco or to our hotels in Urubamba. A packed lunch will be provided.
