The Inca Jungle Trail to Machu Picchu is a 4-day, 3-night adventure that combines exhilarating activities such as biking, rafting, ziplining, and hiking with stunning scenery and enriching cultural experiences. Explore Inca ruins, lush coffee and coca plantations, and relax in the hot springs of Colcamayo after action-packed days.

Itinerary

DAY 1:Cusco – Abra Malaga – Santa Maria

We will pick you up at your hotel at 6:00 a.m. in our private transportation and we will travel for an average of four hours to reach Carrizales or San Luis where we will begin our adventure, on the way we will pass through “Abra Málaga” which is at 4,300 meters above sea level. We will descend by bike for an average of three hours to Santa María, where we will have lunch. On the way we will see the typical vegetation of a cloud forest, coffee plantations and coca leaves, until we reach the town of Santa María, where we will spend the night in a guesthouse.

In the afternoon we will have the opportunity to go canoeing on the Vilcanota River (class III, IV) for one and a half hours.

DAY 2:Santa Maria – Baños Termales – Santa Teresa

After a delicious breakfast around 6:30 am we will be ready to start our first day of trekking along a recently discovered Inca trail towards Santa Teresa. The first two hours of our tour will be uphill, along the way we will make several stops to learn a little more about the rich flora and fauna of the area we will be in, one of them will be at a family home where we will relax for about 20 minutes, here we can also stock up on water and some delicious tropical fruits from the area, Later we will cross a section of the Inca Trail that once connected the sacred city of Machu Picchu with the city of Vilcabamba, here our guide will explain a little more about the history of the Incas and also the communication system they had at that time.

DAY 3:Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

This morning we will have the option of doing the Canopy or the Zip Line (Monkey Tail).

After breakfast we will go to Santa Teresa la Vieja, where we will find another Oroya to cross the same Urubamba River, and then we will do a 2 and a half hour walk, along this path we will see coca, coffee and fruit plantations such as banana, orange, avocado, mango and we will also see some waterfalls, Finally we will see the mountain of Machu Picchu, then we will arrive at the hydroelectric plant where we will have lunch, then we will take a 2 hour walk along the railroad line to the town of Machu Picchu where we will spend the night in a cozy hotel.

DAY 4:Machu Picchu – Cusco

Very early after breakfast (around 5:00 am) we will start the tour to Machu Picchu with a one hour hike up to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, this way we will be one of the first groups to enter the Inca city which will allow us to enjoy the majestic sunrise, then we will have a guided tour to the most important temples and Inca palaces inside the citadel of Machu Picchu, with your guide for about 02 hours, then you can explore the mysterious Inca city on your own. (Optional hike and climb to the mountain of Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu has an extra cost of $ 70 USD per person).
At the appropriate time we will descend from Machu Picchu towards Aguas Calientes to board our return train to Ollantaytambo and from there by car to Cusco, our average time of arrival in Cusco will be 8:00 PM and then we will transfer you to your respective hotels.

The tour lasts approximately 6 hours. It starts early in the morning with pickup from your hotel and ends around 12:00 PM or 6:00 PM if you choose the afternoon schedule, both in the city of Cusco.

We use vans as comfortable and safe vehicles suitable for tourist excursions, with a capacity of up to 18 seats, to provide a comfortable experience during the ride. If you prefer a private tour, there are more vehicle options available according to your comfort.
