Description

This tour is one of the best options to visit the emblematic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in only two days. It combines bus and train transportation, allowing you to enjoy breathtaking scenery, from the majestic Andean highlands to the lush vegetation of the cloud forest.

On the first day, you will travel to the town of Aguas Calientes, the base of Machu Picchu, where you will spend the night in a quiet and comfortable environment. The next morning, you will visit Machu Picchu at sunrise, when you can admire the magical first light over this ancient wonder. If you wish, you can also climb the famous Huayna Picchu mountain for panoramic views of the site.

In the afternoon, you will return to the imperial city of Cusco, where you will be dropped off at your hotel, completing a perfectly organized experience. This tour is designed for travelers who wish to fully immerse themselves in the history and beauty of Machu Picchu in a short period of time, without missing its highlights.

Itinerary

DAY 1:Day 1: Cusco-Ollantaytambo-Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. and drive 1.5 hours to the town of Ollantaytambo, located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. From there, we will board our train to Aguas Calientes, where we will enjoy the breathtaking views along the way. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will have free time to explore the town and have lunch at one of the local restaurants (lunch is not included). In the evening, we will meet for dinner together and discuss our plans for the next day with our guide. Overnight at a hotel in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 2:Day 2:Aguas Calientes-Machu Picchu-Cusco

Early in the morning we will take a bus to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as the “Lost City of the Incas”. This extraordinary site is famous for its intricate Inca architecture, including neighborhoods, plazas, alleys, buildings, astronomical observatories, and terraces. Discovered on July 24, 1911 by American explorer Hiram Bingham, Machu Picchu offers a fascinating glimpse into the Inca civilization. After a guided tour, you will have time to explore the site on your own.

Those who have pre-booked to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain will do so at the designated time (1st group: 6:00 am to 8:00 am; 2nd group: 9:00 am to 11:00 am).

Later we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes where we will have lunch at a local restaurant. We will then take the train to Ollantaytambo, where we will be picked up by our transfer staff and taken back to our hotel in Cusco.
